Not the best

Review by Rugbyboy24 Pagham, United Kingdom

Our children brought us this holiday for birthday treats. My daughter stayed here about 12 years ago and said it was lovely. Well let me say that time has not been good for this hotel...

Good points. Staff are great, especially Manwell, Miguel and Emanuela. Receptionist really helpful Breakfast was good. The mattress and pillows were great.

Bad Points When the taxi pulled up to drop us off the hotel looked like it was from a war zone The hotel allowed two stag parties here at the same time. So I much for a Spa Hotel. The pool area is very tiered with old uncomfortable beds. The rooms are very basic with dated furniture. The parasols were all broken. They replaced two with new. The steps at the rest of the hotel to the road are slippery and broken. Workmen are painting and drilling the hotel around the pool are. Just been informed there are more stag party’s arriving this Friday. 13th May.

If the hotel was all up together and building work completed it would be great. Perhaps next year the work could be done prior to the start of the season.

NOT suitable for people with mobility issues

I was sold on this hotel because of the excellent views from balcony. Unfortunately I was not aware that access to and from the hotel was impossible for people with walking difficulties. There are 5 flights of steps down to street level from the pool.,and very steep hill at the front...

It is not mentioned in the hotel information. We found it very dated the furniture old and shabby.. There is no tea and coffee making trays in the rooms, I’ve personally never been in a hotel that doesn’t have this basic facility. The bathrooms are very clean, though useless for me as it was a step over bath shower with no grab rail. There no bars or restaurants near the hotel without having to into town. We had to contact our travel agent to be moved to a more suitable hotel , which they did and actually gave us a refund. . I would not recommend this hotel to anybody who has walking or health issues.

Worst holiday of my life!

Review by Treesacrowd Bristol, United Kingdom

I was recommended this hotel by friends who stayed here a few years ago. Well I have to say that it is now nothing like the hotel that they described. I came here thinking it was a safe environment for a single person with guests around my own age. It has now transpired that the hotel is accepting stag parties...

40 extremely loud and obnoxious British men turned up and shattered the peace and quiet. So much for a Spa Hotel! Not only that but there is 4 different stag parties here on the same dates so you can’t tell me this wasn’t pre-arranged with the hotel. The other guests have been pushed out of the pool and bar areas and have resorted to going into town to get away from the mayhem. It’s so noisy, that it isn’t possible to relax on the balconies as they all overlook the pool where they are hanging out. There is no space for other guests to sit outside in a shaded area as the stags have taken over all those too. Repeated requests to the hotel reception to ask them to deal with the unacceptable language and noise falls on deaf ears. Also there is absolutely no WIFI available as advertised. I really hope you have not already booked this hotel.

first holiday after covid

This hotel for the price paid was very good. The rooms need to be updated and a little renovation. The food was excellent for half board, good selection for breakfast...

Evening meals the Alacarte menu was excellent great quality fresh food. Service was great. The beach 10 mins away and a nice walk into town. If you want a nice quiet place to stay then this is it. I would definitely visit again. I’m sure now we are getting over covid this hotel will do very well for what it offers. They have a spa but it’s not used all the time so the steam room didn’t get hot enough for us. Miguel at the bar was really nice and helpful. The restaurant staff were very nice and offered great service and made us feel very welcome. We had an ocean view room with an amazing view. Our only complaint was the twin room beds are too small they could do with queen beds and they were a bit squeaky. We went on a tour and the hotel booked this for us. Hotel. Reception staff also very helpful

Short break for five days, 10th - 15th April 2022

Review by V1880PKtonyp Dublin, Ireland

Hotel Bella Vista' is a 2 star hotel or 3 star B&B at best. Day 1 - Arrived 11.30am. The outside of the hotel looked like a abandoned building! Room was ready on arrival, we were told this was a major deal, normally not available until 2.00pm, (not a big deal as there were only about another twenty guests there) !!! Bedroom - booked a double, we had a twin (keeping us pure!!) Furniture was interesting, however I would be embarresed to donate to the charity shop. The pool area looked VERY 'tired' nothing a pot of paint wouldn't fix...

The pool itself had tiles missing and the surroundin pool walls were dirty. Paint is obviously a scarcity in this region! I would have thought that in Portugal plants and flowers would be easy to grow, the gardener must have been on sick leave! Looking out from our bedroom balcony, the sea view to our right was lovely, however it was wise not to look to the left or down at the pool area. On the left was an abandoned apartment complex. When I say it was gross this would in NO way would be an exageration, it was overgrown, filthy and opressive. Again seeing the pool area from the third floor reinforced my decision not to use it. Apart from one broken umbrealla, NO sun umbrellals in sight. The staff were wounderful working in a challenging environment. The food was reasonable, breakfast a bit sparce. While there was building work going on, it should have been communicated when reading your reviews. Obviously Trip Advisor, have not visited this premises in a long time.
