3 star Hotel... absolutely not

Review by Kerry G Bournemouth, United Kingdom

Truelly the worst hotel we have stayed. Booked for 7 nights, stayed for 5 & that was because we couldn't get a flight back home any sooner. Dirty old bathroom that stunk of urine, mold on shower curtain, toilet seat stained & chipped. Lounge area, filthy deflated brown stained sofa bed, clothes cupboard occupied by ants, furniture all smelling musty with muck residue. Kitchen area old dated, tile filler grimey & missing...no kettle. Bedroom mold stained wall & ants. Patio tiny with iron bars & feels on a slant so feels very unsafe (& this is a family room) patio doors loose fitting & wobbly. Terrible, please don't stay here, the photos are not true to real description of this hell hole...

It needs to be closed down, it's a disgrace.

First impressions always count. Young couple , drunk, arguing loudly and very aggressively in reception on arrival. Had to be physically removed from building...

Girls in front of us , drunk in bikinis, checking in . How does that happen ? Reception chuffed to bits because they thought we were American, because we were smartly dressed . Unfortunately for them we were Scottish. Smartly dressed Scottish people ? Room was tired, terrace door handle broken, safe lock had to be purchased separately, no noise insulation, room was cold, shower and bath was ingrained with dirt and broken tiles . So much for the room. Hotel itself , we were half board, food was mediocre, dining room was run military style be an old gent chasing staff around, as soon as plate was empty it was gone. No time for chit chat here ! We ate out most nights , and for breakfast . Outside bar , no inside bar, wind would have blown you away. Noisy, constant music blaring . People ended up drinking inside reception area. Area at hotel is very hilly and requires a great deal of effort to walk from the beach to the hotel. Not for the faint hearted ! No exaggeration . Walk along the beach to Albuifera takes about 15 minutes , pleasant enough so we spent most of the time in the old town. Fortunately, we were only booked Monday to Friday because if we were booked any longer I would have moved hotel, without a doubt. In summary: You will get what you pay for, read the reviews .. I should have followed my instinct but thought as it was a short holiday I could handle it. Nope !!!!

Not as bad as the reviews state

Just got back after one week , we was dreading the hotel as we had read the reviews beforehand. Hotel , yes it's a bit dated but the room was huge , we was in room 306 in the main building, kitchen , living room with balcony, bedroom with another balcony , lovely view if the smaller quieter pool and could also see the sea . Maids came everyday and cleaned , fresh towels also daily , it was spotless...

Food ..... couldn't complain , could always find something, it was repetitive but that's the same with most hotels , we had breakfast there everyday and a couple of evening meals . Entertainment.....every night for the kiddies , can't really comment as we never went to see it. All staff are really friendly and helpful , bar staff great , only one bar in the evening, however I think they are opening it inside also. Pools ..... only went around the pool once for a couple of hours . There are two pools one with bar and snacks and then another whi h was lovely and much quieter but no bar or snacks . To get access the the pool you have to cross a road walk up a street and to the right to get in , I think they need to look at putting a direct access gate at the front rather than walk all the way round . Location ....Great on the beach , its located in between New Town and Old Town, its was about a 20 min walk to Old Town, however we walked back along the beach to avoid cardiac Hill....it took about 15 min to walk to the strip.
I would recommend using uber taxis as they are really cheap. The Marina is worth a visit, lovely afternoon there . Overall great week .

Good stay

Review by Sobdbdusow1 Grafton Way, Ipswich

Hotel was good, seems very family oriented. There wasn’t a great deal of variety of food but what was there was nice. Stunning views and ideal location to old town and the strip...

Hotel is quite outdated but staff were nice and maids were amazing!

Please if you have a booking here change it pronto im not a fussy person & im a believer of you get what you pay for but this is a terrible hotel staff on the make shift reception are unhelpful & down right rude!! I have just came back from 10 days of hell here we were apparently staying in the 4 star part of the hotel on the 6th floor the 1st apartment we were given was freezing cold we had to huddle together under blankets for warmth as the heat from the aircon never worked our balcony opened onto a brick wall which I now know to be the side of the entertainment community centre bar & stage area with no natural light at all we just could not stay there my mam has C.O.P.D so no way she could stay in an ice box for 10 days the reception were no help at all told us to stay there for 3 days then they would see if they could do anything not a chance we could stay there so I rang my tour operator they rang the hotel directly & they were met with rudeness eventually after 7 hours of negotiations they moved us to a new room In the new room we thought great let our holiday finally begin but we noticed our balcony door didn't meet together in the middle to close after the stress we'd been thru with the hotel that day we decided to just sorted it out the next day...BIG MISTAKE I woke the next day to bites all over my face and hand I was having an allergic reaction to the bites on my eye area that my eye was swollen shut twice I asked for help at reception & none of them helped me instead they sent someone up to spray insect repellant i needed a doctor so I rang jet2 & they couldn't of been more helpful they sent me lots of doctors information sent the rep around to see me finally i seen a doctor who gave me antibiotics The hotel is filthy our room was always full of dust i have a dust allergy so I had a flare up not what I need on top of everything else so I was totally run down I ended up with cold sores all over my mouth my eye was swollen closed off the bites my nose & chest were bad from the dust i could not wait to leave this place worse place ive ever ever stayed We'd been here 10 nights & they never changed the beds once there was a thick layer of dust on everything all the time if you put your phone down for a few minutes it was covered in dust when you picked it back up dirtiest place ive ever stayed Food was crap same thing every day apart from swapping meats around food is never hot the pool bar food is always full of flies there is only 1 bar on the 6th floor with no toilets Its a shame as this could be a beautiful place as its in a fab location on the beach but it needs so much work doing to it the standards are of a 1 star please choose another place to stay there is better hotels just along the road.
