Lovely place

Review by Susan C IRELAND

We really enjoyed our stay with our daughter who is a toddler. The hotel and outdoors area is spotlessly clean! Staff are very friendly and the cleaning staff work so hard. They were all lovely to meet and very respectful...

The entertainment staff are fun and friendly. Indoor pool was nice and we had no problem booking it day to day. The small playground is nice too. Outdoor pools were ice cold but that's the same everywhere. We got a taxi to Splash and Slide one day it cost 35 euro each way. Well worth it with a small child as the bus takes over an hour. Gym is fine. Small but fine! I was a little disappointed with the area as I was unsure where to eat day to day. We ended up walking to the Old Town(30 mins) and taking taxis back (6euro approx). Very lively there and lots of places to eat. Overall there was no where that we ate that was really amazing. Just average. Ate in the Bank in the Oldtown. Over priced. Beaches are nice in Albuifera and I would recommend Vila Petra as we found it very quiet.

A nice friendly stay

Review by MrsJ007 North East Lincolnshire

We stayed self catering as a family of 4, in a 1 bed room apartment. We arrived just before 12pm and our room was ready. The hotel was welcoming on arrival everything was explained to us...

Our room was clean, tidy and the kitchen had plenty of utensils. We overlooked the pool and the sun shone on our balcony first thing in the morning. The bathroom had both hand soap and shower gel. The room had a tv with various channels showing different languages. The safe was complimentary along with an iron and ironing board. You can choose to have maid service everyday; they work everso hard. Our room was spotless with fresh towels when we came home. You can get towels from reception to use by the pool; these are free of charge and there is no deposit. However, we feel it would be better if you didn’t have to request the towels. Ideally, there would be an area for self service of the towels and a large container to ‘dump’ the used ones. The pool was really cold but did get ever so slightly warmer as the day went on… This may be better in the hotter months. Very friendly staff who will do what they can to make sure you have a good stay. Vila Petra is close to bars and restaurants although far enough away to feel quiet. It is a 3 min walk to Aldi just across the road. ‘The strip’ is a 5 min walk. In our opinion, this hotel is more for families than younger groups of people. The entertainment was a mixed bag with the hotel aiming to provide something for everyone. It starts at 9pm. There is a restaurant although we only ate as a couple on the other side. Our son’s went to sample the buffet one evening but they weren’t impressed. The Xeirus restaurant (opposite side) was £25pp which included 4 courses and wine. The food was absolutely stunning, serving dishes we had never tried before. The octopus was so tasty served with asparagus risotto. If anything, there was too much, as after this came steak and fried potatoes. Again, cooked to perfection. In our opinion, we’d reduce the amount of octopus and risotto and instead, serve a full almond cake for dessert. We had the choice of wine and served water. All this for £25 each!! Incredible value and stunning food. This was an option served on their Great Gatsby night, so may not always be available.

Nice with some problems

Review by BarrySheehan Limerick, Ireland

Visited in early April for 11 nights with my wife and 8 month old baby. We booked the 1 bedroom apartment with the superior balcony. Arrived at about midday and they had the room ready for us...

Staff at check in and throughout the whole stay were very friendly. The apartment itself was very spacious and the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils etc. Some of the issues we had were outside of the hotels control but some were within their control. When we arrived I rang reception to ask would it be possible to have a high chair brought to the the room which I was told they would do straight away. However I had to ring reception again the next day to ask for it again. We had breakfast included in our package and we wished we hadn’t, the food was very average and a better breakfast in town for half the price would have been a better option. The gym and indoor pool are restricted to a small number of guests because of covid restrictions (I think) so there were a number of days we brought baby down to the pool for a swim and were told that we weren’t allowed. Some days it was fully booked into the following day as well. During the summer this mightn’t be a problem but the outdoor pools were freezing so you couldn’t swim with a baby outside. The gym is limited to two people per hour and only open certain hours each day so I would guess that no more than 10/12 people can use it each day which could be a problem for people during the busier season. Lastly the area surrounding the hotel has definitely seen better times. The top part of the strip has suffered from covid closures so attracts a lot of locals drinking on street corners. A couple of nights it was actually unsafe walking home at night. All in all the hotel (particularly the outside pool) are nice with good facilities but the restrictions and surrounding areas bring it down a few notches. For the price you pay there are nicer places to stay.

An ok hotel

Review by pinkis4eva Lancashire, United Kingdom

Not sure the hotel lived up to its 4 star status a little disappointed, rooms clean, staff seemed unhappy, opening hours of bars seemed weird, not much info on eating at the restaurants, room 136 near a road could be very noisy at night, walls thin could hear a child crying at night. Ordered food from snack bar had to send back because was undercooked, staff did cook another one thou. Now sure we wouldn't again

Wonderful break

Review by kitkat3129 London, United Kingdom

2nd time at this wonderful hotel. Very helpful staff. Use of face masks in communal areas...

Buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. All areas were spotless. You have to book for a slot to use the indoor pool so it doesn’t get too crowded which worked for us as we were a family of six so ended having the hour slot to ourselves most days. Rooms are very spacious with a separate kitchen which had all you need to make a meal if you wanted to. There is also an Aldi within walking distance to pick up bits and bobs. Entertainment team kept the young ones busy in the play room. There is also an out door play area which is unmanned. A huge shout out to all the staff especially Antonio who we tried to adopt as our step dad as he made our elderly mother feel so cared for at dinner. All in all a nice multigenerational bureaucracy much longed for after 2 years of Covid restrictions.
