Vilamoura

The Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort offers a quite location in unrivaled surroundings. It's only 10 minutes from the beach, and steps away from award winning golf courses. Whether you're traveling alone on a golfers retreat, or with all the family for a well deserved break Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort has everything you'll want and need to make your stay on the Algarve unforgettable. A selection of rooms are available including some with views onto the gardens and fairways. All rooms come with a relaxing terrace and complimentary WiFi. Some suites also have the additional luxury of butler service. Outside of the rooms, the services and dining outlets are second to none and include the award-winning Anantara Spa, the Purobeach Vilamoura beach club (with complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel) and kids' as well as Teens' clubs, ensuring all the family enjoys a relaxing break.

We would like to inform that due to unpredicted circumstances we had to close our Anantara Spa facilities for maintenance and will take this opportunity to proceed with some renovation works. The estimated reopening is mid-April.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Anantara

Review by David H Manchester, United Kingdom

Stay was not as good as March 2020 - problems with our safe which they tried to fix before replacing. We had to stay in the room and wait for maintenance to witness the opening of the safe - 6 hours we waited in total as the problem occurred 3 times.

Lovely hotel but feels more like a business hotel than a holiday resort

Review by andymardon Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Firstly, what made this a 4* review was the quality of the hotel and the attentivness of the staff. The hotel itself is great quality. Nice rooms, nice food and a very upmarket feel to the facilities and common areas...

The staff were also fantastic. Very polite, extremely attentive and very helpful at all times. Especially the staff at the entrance who were always there to fetch our car from the car park. On the day of departure they even took the bags directly from the room and loaded them directly into the car ready for us to drive off. The staff have been trained to deliver 5* service and it shows. The dissapointing thing for us was the 'feel' of the hotel. To us it felt quite souless and business like. I could imagine attending a big conference there and it being nice but it didn't have much going on if you were staying there on a family leisure trip. Some live music or some form of evening entertainment wouldn't have gone a miss. The outdoor pool is heated but was still quite cold. Kids can't use the indoor pool at the hotel but we could use one at their apartments complex a short walk from the entrance. The kids club was not operational which was a shame as this was one of the reasons we selected the hotel. Location wise there is not much going on around the hotel. Nowhere really to walk to and see some life or bars/restaurants and the beach is a drive/shuttle away too. I struggled with the hotel being called a 'resort' because that suggests you can spend all your time there but there was so little going on that most days we had breakfast and then headed out somewhere else before coming back to sleep in the evenings (very pleased we had a car). All of these drawbacks are no fault of the excellent staff though who couldn't have done more to look after us.

Amazing, 5* Hotel

Great hotel, a 5 star experience not often received in Europe, and it was comparable to Dubai standards. The rooms were large and modern, great grounds, spa and golf course. Breakfast was great with the option of some food made in front of you and champagne available.

First holiday since Covid19

This was our first holiday abroad since 2020. And our first package holiday for many years. We were not disappointed...

The hotel was luxurious. But we have stayed in luxurious hotels in many different locations. So what made this trip outstanding was the staff. Each and everyone spoke excellent English and responded kindly and patiently to our few attempts at Portuguese phrases. In some of the hotels we have stayed in the staff appear to be superior or unhappy. This was certainly not the case at Anantara. Every member of staff could not be more helpful. We were treated like very special guests. We were even invited to 5 year anniversary party with 8 Ferraris parked outside. We felt very privileged. As ordinary people, as we are not rich by any means, it felt so special to be treated with such courtesy and genuine interest. All services were excellent as you’d expect. There were no negatives about this hotel. And I’d love to return when the weather is better. We don’t play golf but enjoyed the walk to the marina. We welcomed the shuttle service and thought it was excellent. Thanks for a luxurious holiday at a first class hotel.

Lovely hotel and service - freezing pool

Review by Hannah P Cheshire, United Kingdom

It’s a stunning 5* hotel and I’d expect for the price and the fact that children cant swim in the warm indoor pool that the outdoor kids pool be heated - my 7 year old and other kids here can’t swim in the pool - it’s too cold and clearly the hotel are not heating it. Shame Hotel suggested we went to residence down the road to use their pool which although indoor is also freezing and heated to the most minimal possible temperature - maybe anantara could just heat the pool - that may be nicer for guests. When kids come on holiday they want to swim.
