Ambassador Playa I

Costa Blanca

This beautiful hotel is located in Benidorm's tourist centre, only 2 km from the town centre, which is filled with boutiques, cafés, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. There are public transportation links in front of the hotel and there is an excellent golf course just 12 km away. This hotel is ideal for a fun-filled, family holiday under the warm Mediterranean sun. However, hen and stag parties are not allowed at the hotel.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Quick 5 dayer

Review by karen_sellors United Kingdom

Hotel lovely rooms very nice, air con not so good I didn’t think, wouldn’t go cool enough for me so couldn’t visit mid summer. The public areas also very warm. Food amazing so much choice...

Our floor was very noisy with 2 groups of men and women on it talking and laughing at 6 am but guess we are in Benidorm. You can’t get a sunbed after 9.30 am all towels down and reserved. Staff great and exceptionally clean. Would I stay again yes probably just not in the height of summer.

Excellent location and accommodation

Review by perryPortsmouth portsmouth

This is my third stay here in the last 12 months and I must say since the full refurbishment the hotel is very nice. The entire place is spotlessly clean and the staff are very pleasant. There is live entertainment every night with varying acts in the Explorer bar and around the pool area...

The pool area entertainment can be watched from your balcony if you opt for a pool view room. All in all good location with a high standard of cleanliness throughout and excellent staff. I can’t comment on the on site restaurant as I have not tried it.

Top notch

Review by kevbob88 Dublin, Ireland

Just back from a week in the Ambassador 1. Rooms are really nice, the AC is so quiet we didn't think it was working. Large walk in shower in the lovely bathroom is such a plus and the mood lighting is a nice touch. Cleaning staff came every day and changed the towels, always left the place spotless. We stayed full board and found the food excellent and always found something we liked with the desserts topping the bill most times. Staff all over the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Pool is well looked after and they even have a guy who will remove towels from beds not being used after a period of time, very useful when busy.

Entertainment was excellent and the price of the drinks surprised me in a good way for a hotel. We visited the spa a couple of times and found it very relaxing and a nice break from the hot sun, its busy so book in advance...

Only small gripe was the WiFi around the hotel varies in quality, maybe upgrade if its a major issue.

Overall a wonderful week in a lovely Hotel and will definitely return.

Excellent hotel

Review by wendysG1066XO Bristol, United Kingdom

The hotel has had a several million pound refurb. The bedroom, bathroom and balcony were all new, memory foam mattresses, decent size TV, large walk-in shower and the large balcony had a table and 2 chairs. We had a room overlooking the pool but at night we could hear very little noise...

The soundproofing is excellent. Evening entertainment was top class, a pianist, Javi, started the evening at 8pm, then from about 9 o'clock there were 2 or 3 Tribute acts, e.g. BeeGees, Neil Diamond, Take That, Barbra Streisand etc. The restaurant has been modernised and there's a great choice of food. The waiters all wore masks and were friendly and helpful. Drink prices were favourable. The pools are lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds, although not as many parasols as there should have been. Other niggles are that you only get tea/coffee in the room on your first day. Although there was plenty of tea, coffee and sugar, the milk was not replaced and when we asked for more, we were told the facility is only available on your first day, otherwise there's a charge of 5 Euros a week. We did speak to the rep and management about this. The soap was not replaced either but we got some from reception. The Explorers Bar has separate entertainment and an outside drinking area at the back of the hotel. All in all this hotel is excellent value for money, in a very good location with great facilities.

Few little tips ..

Upon arriving we were given 2 key cards but throughout our stay only 1 would ever work , when we would visit reception they’d re do card but it would cancel original out . Severely lacks parasols (12 ) for both hotels that use the very small pool area . Struggle to grab a bed after 9 am and you’ll only get a parasol if you queue at 8 am for doors to open at 8.30 ...

Priority seems to be given to playa 2 unfortunately when the doors open . Only half of restaurant open so both hotels using playa 1 side so long queues in the morning or peak meal times , saying that too many casserole / stew meals so I just had salad and show cooking items . Food is good quality though . Bar staff in the pool area are good but check your change as was over charged a few times . 1 big issue I wasn’t keen on was the bed sheets were never changed the whole week even though they had a few marks on , it was hot and at home sweating I’d at least change them once in a week . Adequate rooms but no where for your cases and storage isn’t that great ! They allowed smokers to smoke around the pool area but some would smoke on their sunloungers which put me off a little and there were no lifeguards present so anyone with kiddies need to keep an eye on them in the pool as no child friendly shallow pools there . Evening entertainment was good , but plenty out and about anyway , unfortunately evening outdoor entertainment is by the pool area and not safe to have small children running around due to sun loungers piled up obstructing sight of the pool at night . Don’t be fooled by the air con it does work but doesn’t kick in for 5/10 minutes and only If patio door is shut and latch is closed . Id suggest taking your own mug and tea / coffee sugar if you can for the room but cheap supermarket only 5 minutes walk away if needed and an insulated cup for drinks you can chill in your fridge rather than paying for cool drinks in the day . We take an insulated lunch bag and buy ice and store in our fridge , lasts 2/3 days and doesn’t leak . I’d definitely stop here again , you won’t be disappointed in the slightest
