Vaccination Status

Portugal allows visitors who are both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated. In order to be fully vaccinated your last dose must be administered at least 14 days prior to arrival in Portugal.

Additionally, your final dose must have been administered within 270 days prior to travel to Portugal, if this is not the case then you must be able to show proof of having received a booster jab.

Portugal will accept the UK’s COVID vaccine certificate (both digital and letter versions) as proof of vaccination. Digital versions must include a 2D barcode (QR code).

Any paper version must be dated from 1 November 2021.

Children under 12 are exempt from any testing requirements, children aged 12 or older follow the same rules as adults.

An NHS COVID Pass provides evidence of your vaccination status.

COVID Tests
Madeira:

Visitors are not required to take COVID tests prior to entry to Madeira.

Fully vaccinated visitors are exempt from the requirement to take pre-arrival tests.

Visitors who are not fully vaccinated may visit Mainland Portugal but must take a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure or an Antigen (Lateral Flow) test within 48 hours of departure and show a negative result. Please note that self-administered tests are not accepted, and you must ensure that your test is supervised in person by a medical professional. No further testing on arrival is required.
